When we were developing as children we learnt that there were parts of ourselves that we could show to the world and get approval, and parts that were best left hidden for fear of rejection. This was the process of building our individual personality, or ego, which is always a limited expression of our whole self.
Transformation is the process of recovering our healthy ego such that we become confident and at peace with who we are. We then feel integrated and secure enough to be able to ‘stand to one side’ and allow ourselves to be a channel such that healing energy can come through us in an unaffected way. This means delving into those parts of ourselves that have become suppressed and so difficult to manage such as anger, hatred, grief, fear, sexuality and love. Once having uncovered these aspects of ourselves we can transform our limited beliefs which are based on false conclusions made in our childhood.
Once we have done this we are in a position to have true compassion for the suffering of others and can help to lead them out of their own pain into fulfilment. |
